Child Counselling
What is Child (and Adolescent) Counselling?
Childhood and adolescence can be testing times. They are periods of rapid growth, development and change. Often these times are characterised by a bewildering array of emotions (for both parent and child). Parents can find it difficult if they feel their child is not coping emotionally or they have been affected by a life event.
At times Children can experience many stresses or difficulties that are upsetting for both themselves and their parents. Parents know their child better than anyone else and if concerned for their child’s wellbeing, sometimes counselling is the answer for either the child or the parents (or maybe both).
Even in the most nurturing home environment, some children still need a little extra support. If your child or adolescent is having trouble coping with life’s challenges, specialised counselling can help them develop resiliency, improve self-esteem or overcome behaviour issues.
Most parents just want their children to have a childhood that is happy and carefree but, just like adults, children can go through tough times. When parents find themselves unable to offer the assistance required, a trained counsellor, psychologist or therapist could be beneficial.
At Wellbeing Therapy Space, our qualified therapists are experienced and qualified in working with children, adolescents and their parents.
We greatly value the importance of collaboration between parents or caregivers and counsellors. We offer feedback, help you implement strategies and provide an environment where you can discuss the concerns you have for your child. We have the skills to support your family and help your child navigate their journey and maximise the effectiveness of the therapy by establishing a safe and trusting relationship.
Counselling can help your child express their thoughts and feelings and identify stressful or problematic issues. A safe and secure environment is created where the child can be heard, acknowledged and validated and a solution found.
